Thanksgiving Calories

Thanksgiving is a meal that has one of the highest calorie counts of the year.  There is hope!  Use the following suggestions to help you curb your calories on one of the most calorie rich meals of the year.

1. Plan your meal ahead of time. Most meals have the classics.  Calculate your calories (even if it’s a little more than usual).

  1. White meat with skin – 185 calories (4 oz)
  2. White meat, no skin – 158 calories (4 oz)
  3. Dark meat with skin – 206 calories (4 oz)
  4. Dark meat, no skin – 183 calories (4 oz)
  5. Wing with skin – 256 calories (4 oz)
  6. Wing, no skin – 184 calories (4 oz)
  7. Stuffing – 109 calories (1 oz)
  8. Mashed Potatoes – 214 calories (1 cup)
  9. Sweet Potatoes – 114 (1 cup)
  10. Dinner Roll – 77 calories
  11. Cranberry Sauce – 86 calories (1/2” thick)
  12. Gravy – 152 calories (canned)
  13. Pumpkin Pie – 323 calories (1 slice)

2. Eat a healthy breakfast and lunch. The norm is to skip meals on Thanksgiving, however, eating a healthy breakfast and lunch will help you curb your hunger and eat less later.

3. Drink a glass of water between alcoholic drinks.
