The beauty of the smaller classes (up to 10 people per class) at Body Go Fitness is more attention! Our instructors are able to personally guide beginners through the new postures, and give more experienced students a chance to move to the next level. Every attendee should be prepare to challenge themselves! Yoga, while ultimately relaxing, is challenging to practice; but over time will build tremendous amounts of strength.
Additionally, yoga is a hands-on tradition and students can expect one-on-one attention to their correct postures.
Body Go Fitness has a few “house mats” available at the studio, although it is recommended you bring your own. (Yoga mats are available for purchase at most sporting good stores). You should also bring a towel, water, and wear flexible clothing that is not too baggy.
Hatha Yoga – Translated from Sanskrit, the word “hatha” means “effort,” “force,” or “exertion,” and refers to the physical branch of yoga, which uses physical practices, such as postures (asana) and breathing exercises (pranayama) to regulate the ceaseless activity of the thinking mind. Hatha yoga aims to balance the perception of the body and mind as separate with the understanding that these polarities are a natural part of life and are always in flux.
In this hatha yoga class, we’ll explore movement in relationship to flow, breath, and stillness through a series of postures and breathing exercises that promote proper body alignment, balance, strength, flexibility, and serenity. The aim of this practice is to help maintain or restore integrity and vitality of the body, encourage full, unrestricted breathing, and regulate symptoms of dis-ease or imbalance. Classes may include aspects of different styles of yoga – such as vinyasa, connecting movement with breath; yin, holding postures for longer periods of time; or restorative, facilitating complete, deep relaxation with the aid of props – but the overall practice is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style. Props, such as blocks, belts, bolsters, and blankets, may be used to assist or enhance your experience of a posture. Students are encouraged to listen to their own bodies and to go at their own pace.

Dana is dedicated to helping her students establish their own practice, at home and in the studio. Her classes balance restorative flow and powerful postures with thoughtful attention to creative sequencing and breath awareness. She includes a variety of modifications and options to support students’ current skill levels and foster their development. Her number one priority is to create a safe space where students can explore their edges, listen deeply, and flourish.
Though she began practicing yoga in 1998, she did not immerse herself in wholehearted study for nearly another 10 years, ultimately completing her yoga teacher training in 2010. During this journey, she has been fortunate to study with Donna Farhi, Ana Forrest, and Yin Yoga founder, Paulie Zink, as well as many amazing teachers of small-town renown. In 2013, she spent three months in India learning more about the birthplace of yoga and deepening her understanding and experience of spiritual and mindfulness practices.
Dana’s approach to yoga is enhanced by her ongoing study of various body-mind practices, including tai chi, massage, hooping, and creative arts, such as writing, improvisation, dance, and Somatic Movement Education.
